How much can I borrow?

Capitec allows you to borrow up to R250 000 over easy repayment terms ranging from 1 -84 months, depending on how much you would like to borrow and how much time you will need to pay back the personal loan.

We give you the added benefit of choosing your interest rate and once agreed upon, this is a fixed term that will not change for the duration of the loan agreement.

How long till I can expect the money?

We run a credit check in a matter of minutes, then once we have analysed your profile and offered you a deal and you have signed and accepted the long or short-term loan agreement, the money will be transferred directly into your bank account immediately.

What do I need to apply?

To apply for a loan with us you will need the following documentation.

  • You should be 18 or older
  • A copy of your ID
  • A copy of your latest pay slip
  • A stamped 3-month bank statement showing your last 3 months salary deposits
  • Proof of address (document must display your name and your street address)

How do we determine your affordability?

To determine your affordability, we will ask your permission to run a credit check. The next thing we will look at is your credit and banking history as well as what expenses you already have versus how much you earn.

The longer you have had your job or been employed the better your risk profile. We need to make sure you are stable and that your expenses don’t outweigh your paycheck.

If I am self-employed, can I apply?

If you are self-employed, you determine your own salary and payment date. You are seen as a very high-risk client. Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist you with a bad credit loan.

Do you offer credit insurance?

Credit insurance is offered on all personal loans with the repayment terms of 6 months or longer. If you take a loan that will take you more than 7 months to pay then it becomes compulsory. It will also be compulsory to take out death cover and permanent or temporary disability cover.
